This weekend, the sixth round of the FIM Supersport World Championship will be held at the Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic. After a positive race weekend at Donington Park, Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing travelled straight to the Czech circuit that has been on the World Superbike calendar since 2021. The Autodrom Most was built back in 1983 but was not used for international motorcycle racing until 2021. The circuit is 4.2 kilometres long and has no fewer than 21 corners. It is a technical circuit and the demanding layout means Pirelli brings harder tyres than at other tracks. After a good race weekend at Donington Park, with Stefano Manzi and Glenn van Straalen both in the top seven in Race 2, this weekend will be a case of building on these performances for Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing. With expected temperatures of over 30°C it will be a challenging weekend for the riders, the team and the equipment.

Glenn van Straalen: “It’s good to race again straight away and stay in the rhythm. We finished the race weekend at Donington Park well so if we continue on that footing, we can hopefully get a good result. I’m looking forward to getting back to work with the team.’

Friday – Van Straalen qualifies in 14th place

Glenn van Straalen had a difficult qualifying session and finished 14th. This weekend the sixth round of the FIM Supersport World Championship is beingheld at the Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic. The weekend started with sunny and warm conditions and Saturday and Sunday are also expected to see temperatures over 30°C. After Stefano Manzi and Glenn van Straalen finished free practice on Friday morning in third and twelfth respectively, the Superpole session was run in the afternoon. With a 1’34.509, Stefano Manzi finished in third place on the timesheet and secured a spot on the front row of the grid for the fifth time this year. Due to a change in the regulations, the Yamaha looks set to be a bit more competitive again in the World Supersport class this weekend. Teammate Glenn van Straalen ended the Superpole session with a 1’35.591 which puts him 14th on the grid.

Glenn van Straalen – P14: “It was a difficult session, this is not the starting position I would have liked to have. We need to find out why qualifying is so difficult for us. We will see if we can find something tonight and tomorrow morning in the warm up so that we can be in a better position in the race tomorrow.’

Saturday- Van Straalen’s solid race ends with P9 after penalty

Glenn van Straalen crossed the finish line in eighth place but had to surrender one more position afterwards due to exceeding the track limits on the last lap. As on Friday, the weather conditions on Saturday at Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic were sunny and warm, which made it for challenging conditions in the nineteen-lap race. Starting from fourteenth on the grid, Glenn van Straalen managed to make big strides in the opening phase of the race. He soon established himself in the top ten after which he moved further forward during the race. The Dutchman crossed the finish line in eighth place but would later be dropped another position for exceeding the track limits. Manzi rode the fastest lap in this race, allowing him to start from pole position in Race 2 on Sunday afternoon. Van Straalen rode the fifth-fastest lap time, allowing him start the race from P5 on the grid.

Glenn van Straalen – P9: “This was definitely a strong race, I was able to get to the front well and had the confidence to overtake. Also the fifth place on the grid for tomorrow is nice, I think we have a good race pace. Hopefully we can find something more tomorrow to get a bit further to the front then.”

Sunday – Van Straalen ends Czech raceweekend with 7th place in Race 2

Glenn van Straalen rode a good race and finished in the top ten for the third consecutive race in seventh place. After a good Saturday at the Autodrom Most, Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing was looking forward to the second day of racing at the Czech circuit. It was a few more degrees warmer, making conditions once again quite tough for the riders and the bikes.

Stefano Manzi was unable to make the most of his pole position but immediately established himself in the leading group in which he was not afraid to attack. After quite a fight in the opening phase, Manzi had taken second place and had broken away from the group behind. In the end, the Italian crossed the line in second place, scoring his eighth podium finish out of 12 races this season. With 183 points Manzi is third in the championship, his gap to the championship leader is 53 points. Glenn van Straalen also had to give up two places after the start and then tried to keep in touch with the group ahead of him. This went well for a long time after which he started to lose this connection. In the end, the Dutchman crossed the line in seventh place, finishing among the first nine for the third race in a row. Van Straalen is now eighth in the championship with 83 points.

Glenn van Straalen – P7: “I am happy with seventh place. My start was good but then I just couldn’t follow the group in front of me. In the end, it was a good weekend and we were able to make some steps forward again in several areas. I think if we continue this line in Portimão, we can get good results there as well.’

Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing gaat rechtstreeks naar Tsjechië met Most als volgende uitdaging

Aankomend weekend wordt de zesde ronde van het FIM Supersport World Championship verreden op het Autodrom Most in Tsjechië. Na een positief raceweekend op Donington Park is Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing meteen doorgereisd naar het Tsjechische circuit dat sinds 2021 op de World Superbike kalender staat. Na een goed raceweekend op Donington Park, met Stefano Manzi en Glenn van Straalen beiden in de top zeven in Race 2, zal het voor Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing aankomend weekend een kwestie zijn van voortbouwen op deze prestaties. Met verwachte temperaturen van ruim 30°C zal het een uitdagend weekend worden voor de coureurs, het team en het materiaal.

Glenn van Straalen: “Het is goed om meteen weer te racen en in het ritme te blijven. We hebben het raceweekend op Donington Park goed afgesloten dus als we op die voet verder gaan kunnen we hopelijk een goed resultaat behalen. Ik kijk er naar uit om weer aan de slag te gaan samen met het team.”

Vrijdag – Van Straalen kwalificeert zich als 14e op Autodrom Most

Glenn van Straalen kende een moeizamere kwalificatie en eindigde als veertiende. Dit weekend wordt de zesde ronde van het FIM Supersport World Championship verreden op het Autodrom Most in Tsjechië. Het weekend begon met zonnige en warme omstandigheden en ook op zaterdag en zondag is de verwachting dat het ruim 30°C wordt. Nadat Stefano Manzi en Glenn van Straalen de vrije training op vrijdagochtend als respectievelijk derde en twaalfde afsloten werd ’s middags de Superpole sessie verreden. Met een 1’34.509 eindigde Stefano Manzi als derde op de tijdlijst en heeft hij zich voor de vijfde keer dit jaar verzekerd van een plaats op de eerste startrij. Vanwege een reglementswijziging lijkt de Yamaha dit weekend weer wat competitiever te kunnen zijn in de World Supersport klasse. Teamgenoot Glenn van Straalen sloot de Superpole sessie af met een 1’35.591 waarmee hij als veertiende gekwalificeerd staat.

Glenn van Straalen – P14: “Het was een moeilijke sessie, dit is niet de startpositie die ik had willen hebben. We moeten uitzoeken waarom de kwalificaties zo moeizaam voor ons verlopen. We gaan kijken of we vanavond en morgenochtend in de warm up nog wat kunnen vinden zodat we er morgen in de race beter bij kunnen staan.”

Zaterdag – Solide race voor Van Straalen’s eindigt met P9 na penalty in race 1

Glenn van Straalen kwam als achtste over de finishlijn maar moest naderhand nog één positie inleveren vanwege het overschrijden van de track limits in de laatste ronde. Net als op vrijdag was het zaterdag opnieuw zonnig en warm op Autodrom Most in Tsjechië, het zorgde voor uitdagende omstandigheden in de negentien ronden tellende race. Vanaf de veertiende plaats op de grid wist Glenn van Straalen flinke stappen te maken in de openingsfase van de race. Al gauw vestigde hij zich in de top tien waarna hij gedurende de race verder naar voren kwam. De Nederlander passeerde de finishlijn als achtste maar zou later nog een positie worden teruggezet vanwege het overschrijden van de track limits. Manzi reed in deze race de snelste ronde waardoor hij zondagmiddag in Race 2 vanaf pole position mag beginnen. Van Straalen reed de vijfde snelste rondetijd waardoor hij vanaf P5 op de grid aan de race begint.

Glenn van Straalen – P9: “Dit was zeker een sterke race, ik kon goed naar voren komen en had het vertrouwen om in te halen. Ook de vijfde startpositie voor morgen is fijn, ik denk dat we over een goed racetempo beschikken. Hopelijk kunnen we morgen nog iets vinden om dan nog iets verder naar voren te staan.”

Zondag – Positief einde voor Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing in Tsjechië met Manzi tweede in Race 2, Van Straalen zevende

Glenn van Straalen reed een goede race en eindigde voor de derde race op rij in de top tien op de zevende plaats. Na een goede zaterdag op het Autodrom Most keek Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing uit naar de tweede racedag op het Tsjechische circuit. Het was nog een paar graden warmer waardoor de omstandigheden wederom behoorlijk zwaar waren voor de coureurs en het materiaal.Stefano Manzi kon zijn pole position niet optimaal benutten maar vestigde zich meteen in de kopgroep waarin hij niet bang was om aan te vallen. Nadat er flink gestreden werd in de openingsfase had Manzi de tweede plaats in handen en had hij zich losgereden van de groep daarachter. Uiteindelijk kwam de Italiaan als tweede over de streep en behaalde hij zijn achtste podiumfinish uit twaalf races dit seizoen. Met 183 punten staat Manzi derde in het kampioenschap, zijn achterstand op de leider in het WK bedraagt 53 punten.Glenn van Straalen moest ook twee plaatsen prijsgeven na de start en probeerde vervolgens de aansluiting te behouden met de groep die voor hem reed. Dat ging lange tijd goed waarna hij deze aansluiting begon te verliezen. Uiteindelijk kwam de Nederlander als zevende over de streep waarmee hij voor de derde race op rij bij de eerste negen is gefinisht. Van Straalen staat nu achtste in het kampioenschap met 83 punten.

Glenn van Straalen – P7: “Ik ben blij met de zevende plaats. Mijn start was goed maar ik kon vervolgens de groep voor mij net niet volgen. Uiteindelijk was het een goed weekend en hebben we op verschillende vlakken weer stappen kunnen maken. Ik denk dat als we deze lijn doortrekken in Portimão, we daar ook weer goede resultaten kunnen behalen.”
